The Final Countdown

Is this who I think it is?

So, I was on the Parkway School District Webpage trying to see the school schedule for the year. And while there, I noticed this picture.

I know it isn't very big, but if I am not mistaken...those two asian kids sure look like Kristin Suk from KPC and Joseph Kim from FKPC. When was this taken???

Happy Birthday

Last year on this day, something unexpected happened.

My wife had spent the past weekend sleeping at the hospital because of complications due to her pregnancy. And after being released on Monday, being told everything was fine, she came home. We returned to the hospital later in the week, it was a Thursday, for another check-up. And then the bomb dropped on us. We were told that we were going to have the baby today because the complications had grown worse. And so, as of noon on Thursday, July 20th, Saras and I began preparing for parenthood.

As Saras was being wheeled to the waiting and preperation room, all the power in the hospital went out. It just added to all our anxiety. Here we were worried, scared and very unsure of everything as our first child would be coming out 7 weeks early. Well, at 4:59pm, we were in the operating room awaiting a C-section, and at 5:12pm, out came Karis Hanna Chung! She was beautiful. Weighing 3 lbs. 12 oz. she looked so tiny, but she was beautiful. Saras glowed and cried as she looked at her baby. The sad part was that neither she nor I could ever hold our baby. She was rushed away in the the Neotal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).

It wasn't until the next morning at about 7am that Saras and I were able to hold our daughter for the first time. And I cried so much. I was so thankful to God that she was healthy and growing. She spent 1 month at the NICU and finally came home! That was incredible.

The past year has been utterly exciting, frightening, moving, and blessing. Karis is such an amazing creation of God. I am watching her watch her Baby Einstein DVD and dancing to the songs and occassionally wrestling a pillow as I write this. What a faithful God we have who watches over us in all things.

Thank you Lord for my daughter who daily teaches me to have faith in the way that she has faith, who teaches me that we are growing physically and spiritually everyday, and for letting me see a glimpse of the Father's heart. I love you Lord!

Thank you Saras for being the most amazing mother. For teaching me everything from changing diapers to feeding bottles to showing me how I can best love her. I love you!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KARIS!!!! DADDY LOVES YOU~~~!!!!!!!

Happy 2-Year Anniversary

Saras,

Thank you so much for the two wonderful and grace-filled years of marriage. It's amazing to see how far we have come as a couple in relationship, family, ministry, and every other sphere of life. I thank God for you everyday and I look forward to the many more years upon years upon years we have together. Thanks for everything, Hon! You are a wonderful wife and mother.

Thank you for always loving me. I love you! HAHAHAHA..those are some ugly cartoon face-things/feelings stuff....I love them, too.

Singing In The Rain

Well...sorta. I am actually inside in my dry apartment listening to the rain come down right now. All the windows are wide open in the house and the most awesome breeze is coming through. The whole house smells like rain. Saras calls it the smell of dirt, but I love it. Whatever it may be, it is awesome! I love watching, listening to, and just taking in a good thunderstorm. I don't konw why, but I always have. There is just something refreshing in it. I could make a number if spiritual analogies here, but I won't. I will just let the rain do its thing. Sadly, the wife and baby are out of town at grandma and grandpa's house.

If I had a wii, I'd probably playing it, but they are sold out everywhere. Those of you who have one, please don't rub it in! They just keep going out like hotcakes. And not just the normal kind of hotcakes, but the really good hotcakes that you get at some remote bed and breakfast place or from some rundown ol diner in the middle of no where.

Anyway, all this to say that I like the rain.

edit: I just walked to my sliding glass door and found my carpet completely soaked! Ummm....crap....Saras is going to kill me....I am gonna go get me some paper towels now. And my socks are all wet....I HATE THAT. EWWW....wet sock.
